Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
1. About this policy
Build Insights provides mock RICS APC final assessments (we, us, our). This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose your personal information when you use buildinsights.com or our services. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
2. What we collect
- Contact details – your name, email address and phone number.
- Professional details – your APC pathway, route, stage, target assessment date, employer, role, location and RICS membership number.
- Documents you share with us – for example your Summary of Experience, case study, CPD records, diaries and any notes or recordings made during a session.
- Booking and payment details – session dates and times, and a record of payments. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not see or store your full card details.
- Website data – technical information such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through server logs and cookies.
3. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you – when you complete our enquiry form, email us, book or pay for a session, or share documents. We may also collect information from your employer where they arrange or pay for services on your behalf. We do not buy personal information from third parties.
4. Why we use it
- To respond to your enquiry and tell you about the services that fit your stage of the APC.
- To deliver mock assessments, including preparing feedback.
- To manage bookings, invoices and payments.
- To run, secure and improve our website and services.
- To send you occasional updates, only where you have agreed. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We only disclose it to:
- chartered surveyors engaged by Build Insights to deliver your sessions, who are bound to keep your information confidential;
- service providers who help us run the business – such as website hosting, email, scheduling (such as Calendly, which we use to book calls) and payment providers – only as needed for them to provide that service;
- your employer, only where they have arranged your services and you have agreed to what is reported back; and
- anyone we are required or authorised to disclose it to by law.
We will not share your information or submission documents with RICS, an assessment panel or your employer unless you ask us to.
6. Overseas storage
Some of our service providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure those providers protect your information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
7. Your APC documents
Your submission documents remain yours. We use them only to prepare your feedback and sessions. We will not publish them, reuse them for other candidates or share them outside Build Insights. Please remove or anonymise confidential client information before sending documents to us, as you would for RICS.
8. Security and retention
We store personal information in secure, access-controlled systems and take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep your information for as long as we need it to provide our services and meet legal obligations – generally up to two years after our last contact with you, or seven years for financial records – and then delete or de-identify it. You can ask us to delete your documents earlier.
9. Cookies
Our website uses cookies that are needed for it to work, and may use basic analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work without them.
10. Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you by getting in touch through the contact form. We will respond within 30 days. If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first and we will try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published on this page, with the date it was last updated.
